It's not only baby blankets . . .

Well, it has been for weeks now. I'm pretty tired of them. I had to take a break before another one and do something different. I love KnitPicks' Kettle Dyed yarn. It's fabulous to use and makes such beautiful garments. I used it to make this pink and grey cowl. Doesn't it look like little flowers all over it? It's so soft and cuddly. The beige tweed blanket is for my step-granddaughter. She's having a little boy. I don't know why kids don't like the baby colors but most of them don't. I put my foot down at using camouglage yarn though to make one. That's not nearly baby enough for me. I don't even like it in blankets for men. Bad enough they have to wear it hunting.

I have never really trusted ultra sounds to determine the sex. While I've only heard of them being wrong a couple of times there's still a 50/50 chance, right?

I've got a shawl pattern I'm going to give a go now. I tried the yarn with two other patterns and it didn't work so I'll see if it works in this next one. ;-)

I'm going to make some protein bars this morning:

1 c. peanut butter
3 tbsp. honey
1-1/2 c. chocolate protein powder (or vanilla)
1 c. uncooked oats
2-5 tbsp. water

Mix the peanut butter and honey together first and then microwave for 30 seconds. Add the rest of hte ingredients and mix together. It will be crumbly and slightly moist. Press (hard) into a 9x9" pan and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Cut into 12 equal squares. Keep refrigerated.

I'll let you know how they turn out.

Have a fantabulous day!

Graduations, etc., etc., and so forth

I have two step-granddaughters graduating from high school and one nephew. I'm so proud of them. It's hard to watch them all grow up. I remember when they were little and I asked them to please promise me they wouldn't get any bigger and they all told me that they had to grow up and "be big." Now they are "big" and I have a hard time wrapping my mind around it.

I've been a bit busy on the crochet front. A few baby blankets were requested by my darling daughter. She has two baby showers coming up. Mom helped me and we finished up a few to mail off this morning. I also crocheted around some burp clothes -- which I love to do.

This was only three of the five blankets completed and only five of the 8 burp clothes. Mom made the blanket in the bottom right. She's still got the touch -- at nearly  91!

Other than that not much going on here in Arizona. I will add that it's supposed to get to 111 degrees today. Hard to believe, isn't it? WOW! Getting warm here.
